News releases for hometown newspapers are prepared by the Western Carolina University Office of News Services when students receive awards of academic achievement, earn scholarships or are initiated into honorary societies.

Students interested in informing their hometown newspapers of accomplishments should complete the Hometown News Release form (PDF) and return it to the department or university official who asked them to complete it. The university representative who made the request should then verify the information and forward the form to the Office of News Services.
